The German Airtraffic Control (DFS), located in Langen is the offical ATC-agency for Germany. It is organized as a privat company, fully owned by the Federal Republic of Germany.

Civial and military air traffic controllers work hand-in-hand at DFS. Since 1993 DFS is in charge of both civil aviation as well as military air traffic (in freedom times). Execptions built the military airports.

Since 2006, DFS continuously sources all nowcast high-precision lightning detection data over the German Weather Service (DWD). This way, the ultra-precise LINET data are used at 16 international airports in Germany as exclusive lightning-data and thus built the high-quality basis for the thunderstorm-related decision making of the DFS experts.

At Munich Airport, three additional integrated field-mills are used.

Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency (SMATSA)

SMATSA is the official air traffic control agency for the  parts of the former Republic of Jugoslawia, Serbia and Montenegro. Also 55 percent of the air space of Bosnia and Herzegowina are serviced by SMATSA.

The agency, founded in 2003, has its headquarters at Nicola Tesla Airport, Belgrade. SMATSA is a member of the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL).

In 2016, SMATSA acquired its own, autonomous LINET lightning detection network in order to enhance the weather information for air traffic and ground handling with highest Quality.

Exemplary availability, highest Detection Efficiency and Location Accuracy as well as LINET’s reliable short-term prediction (nowcasting) of thunderstorms play the major roles in increasing safety and efficiency for the air traffic in SMATSA’s area of responsibility.

Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF)

Next to the Korean Meteorological Administration, also ROKAF (Republic of Korea Air Force) now works with its own LINET system.For security reasons, ROKAF runs an own autonomous, sealed off, countrywide LINET Lightning Detection Network. The produced LINET data is serving in accurate planning of ROKAF’s air traffic and leads to increased safety. In addition to the raw lightning data, nowcast’s LINET view application is used as a valuable and precise planning tool.
