Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency (SMATSA)

SMATSA is the official air traffic control agency for the  parts of the former Republic of Jugoslawia, Serbia and Montenegro. Also 55 percent of the air space of Bosnia and Herzegowina are serviced by SMATSA.

The agency, founded in 2003, has its headquarters at Nicola Tesla Airport, Belgrade. SMATSA is a member of the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL).

In 2016, SMATSA acquired its own, autonomous LINET lightning detection network in order to enhance the weather information for air traffic and ground handling with highest Quality.

Exemplary availability, highest Detection Efficiency and Location Accuracy as well as LINET’s reliable short-term prediction (nowcasting) of thunderstorms play the major roles in increasing safety and efficiency for the air traffic in SMATSA’s area of responsibility.
